The property's history

Built in the late 18th century, Barrington house was originally a rectory and remained so until the 1950's when it was sold to form a family home. This large property stands in an acre of private gardens with well established trees and borders and not to mention the very large sweet chestnut tree! There is a lovely yew walkway and the gardens are surrounded by open fields and stunning scenery.

Bought in 2001, we (Ben and Margaret) have restored the property in the original traditional style, providing an extremely spacious country home for holidays and short breaks, corporate working breaks, weddings and special celebrations.  Sleeping 26 people and accommodating up to 150 guests, Barrington House was in its day a formal country property, but now it enjoys an air of informality and relaxation that we know you’ll enjoy!
