If you are looking for a great place to stay with a group of friends, celebrating a special occasion or wishing to spend an active few days in the country on business, then why not let us help you plan your visit with some of the following activities and pursuits, all within 5-30 minutes of Barrington House or on site! We can arrange all the bookings for you.
In house:
- Visiting therapists and beauticians - indulge in an Indian head massage, a marine facial or paraffin wax manicure, the choice is endless. Vouchers available for a special gift.
- Wine tasting - spend an afternoon or evening sampling some fantastic wines from around the world with Patrick Shave from Hop Pocket Wines.
- Walking - stroll down country lanes, past apple orchards and enjoy the delights of the Hop Pocket Craft Centre. Wines, chocolates, antiques, crafts and coffee shop await you. Or perhaps a stroll to the Frome Valley Vineyard for a tasty treat!
- Murder Mystery breaks - spend a short break with friends to discover the fate of Lord Lionel Barrington with the team from Scream In The Dark productions. An alternative break in an ideal venue!
- Cookery demonstrations - be amazed at the culinary skills of renowned chefs and have your own private cookery demonstration in-house.
- Interactive cookery courses - if you can't just watch, then why not get stuck in and take part in your own private cookery course at Barrington House.
- Art experiences - discover your artistic talents and have an Arty Party, learning how to paint like Monet, Cezanne, Vincent van Gough and Picasso.
On our doorstep (5-10 mins away)
- Horse riding - trekking through brooks and woodlands, open farmland and country lanes, for beginners and experienced riders. This is a great way to work off the dinner party from the night before!
- Pottery - how long has it been since you had pots of fun? Get muddy on the potters wheel. make jewellry, decorate a plate - and enjoy the home made cakes, fresh coffee and not to mention the views across the Bromyard Downs.
- Walking - rambling through the undergrowth of the Brockhampton woods is quite special and the views, views, views! Or perhaps you prefer to be "climbing" the Malvern Hills where the springs of Malvern Water trickle.
- Golf - Herefordshire now boasts some of the loveliest golf courses and you can play on a different course each day of the week!
- Vineyards, Cider and Perry farms - a visit to Herefordshire would not be complete without experiencing the taste of cider. Enjoy the fruits of local labours and sample around 100 different varieties of Perry and Cider - just a short stroll away.
- Mountain grass boarding - if you can't get to the ski slopes this year, then why not try boarding on grass. It's not as cold, it's a lot cheaper but the landing is tougher!
- Fishing - a range of coarse fishing lakes nearby for those who want to be alone!
- Tractor and trailer rides - now here's something different. A tractor and trailer ride for large groups on a guided tour of one of the most beautiful National Trust farm estates. Sip Champagne and nibble from your picnic basket whilst sitting on bales of straw and taking in the most photographed scenes in Worcestershire. You can finish off with a hearty farm lunch if you prefer, feed the lambs and collect fresh eggs before you leave.
- Eating out - our award winning pub "The Green Dragon" now in the Good Beer Guide serves delicious Herefordshire beef steaks, burgers and is only a short stroll away. Alternatively, you can feast on Sunday lunch at "The Chase Inn" in the centre of the village.
A scenic journey to discover (20-30 minutes away):
- Quad trekking: proving ever popular, quad bike trekking over 350 acres of unspoilt farm lands, for 6 – 60 year olds!
- Clay shooting: a great day out for beginners and the experienced in spectacular Worcestershire scenery at the foot of the Malvern Hills.
- Creative breaks: Herefordshire is full of highly skilled artists and craftsmen, attracting visitors from all over the country. With so many workshops to choose from whether for a short break or a long stay, from basket making, chair making, book making, to stained glass and rug making, why not let us help you choose one that suits you - another secret from Herefordshire!
- Theatre: A night out at the renowned Malvern Theatres to visit popular stars is only 10 minutes away set in the Winter Gardens at Malvern. Why not visit the land of Shakespeare at Stratford for a real theatrical treat!
- Cycling through forests: one of our favourite pursuits, since the cycle centre has many bicycles to hire of all shapes and sizes for all ages and abilities to allow you to explore the ancient forests in the renowned Forest of Dean.
- Kayaking and Canoeing: the best way to enjoy the scenery of the River Wye is by canoe. Trips down the Wye make a great day out for all ages! Instructors available on request.
- More golf courses: beautiful golf courses are all around us. Why not visit the highest golf course in England only 30 minutes drive.
- A day at the Races: enjoy an afternoon at the renowned Worcester race course adjacent to the stunning River Severn and let us arrange somewhere special to eat out. Mini buses and limousines can escort you to and fro. Cheltenham and Hereford racecourse are also within easy reach.
- White water rafting: if you like getting wet and terrified at the same time, then this is for you. The scenery is spectacular on the River Wye too - if you get the chance to take it all in!
- Shelsley Walsh hill climbing events: if you like vintage cars, then why not marvel at the wonderful spectacle of these beautiful cars, racing up muddy banks at the great Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb.
- Go Ape: through the amazing Forest of Dean on a high rope adventure course. If this doesn't tire you out, then perhaps a long cycle ride at the end will.
- Morgan Motor tour: why not "oooooh" and "aaaargh" over the beautiful Morgan motor cars and have a guided tour of this amazing factory where they are built in Malvern.
- Climbing: the indoor climbing wall in the small village of Martley provides a great opportunity for groups to learn to climb with trained instructors for all ages and abilities. Ideal when the weather is not!
If you feel like crossing into the Welsh borders -
- Light aircraft flying: on the beautiful Welsh Borders you can view this stunning part of the country from a height, as you learn to fly in a glider for a day.
