Renovations Complete!
In January, Ben said "you're mad! We can't meet the deadline of April 28th for our first BIG HOUSE booking - we have so much building renovations to do. How will we find the contractors and labour and manage it all, with half-term and Easter inbetween, together with bookings for the apartment, solid right up to this date! Not only is this hard enough, but we have to move out of Barrington House and find somewhere to live ourselves." Secretly, I thought so too, (though I would'nt admit it to Ben) but then everyone who knows me, new I only worked to deadlines from past experience. My main concern, was not the deadline, but can we still be good parents to our three lovely children who are at three different schools, renovate Barrington House, establish a new mortgage, find somewhere else to live and still come out walking and talking at the end of it!
I won't bore you with how we did it - but if you are planning to visit Barrington House we will gladly share the details over a bottle of wine or two. The main thing is, we did it!! Barrington House is fully booked for 2006 for weekends and weekly breaks, with the exception of December 8th and midweek breaks through out the year. We have had our first two Big House groups in, the first was a 40th Birthday celebration, the second a "girlie weekend" break. The feedback is tremendous and fills us with confidence for our move to renovate and let all of Barrington House.
The rooms are simply lovely! There is lots of space, lovely beds and furniture and the views are breathtaking. The coments from our first guests were "quick, lets go and choose the best room, before the others arrive", but after 20 minutes, they found me in the garden serving tea and cakes and said "we can't choose a room, they are all so lovely".
If I should have a favourite, it would be the kitchen and the "large" sitting room. The kitchen is equiped with everything you need to celebrate a special ocasion, large and spacious with granite work surfaces and two dishwashers. It is best that you see it for yourself.
